Nurse Midwifery Care Payment options

  • Healthshares, Self-pay, and Insurance all welcome.

  • Estimated family portion for most insurance plans is $4500-5500, please pay by 35 weeks.

  • Ask about discounts if your plan does not cover birth with a nurse midwife.

  • Claims are submitted to insurance after care is provided.

  • Total estimate for claims submitted to insurance for mother and baby, prenatal through 6 weeks postpartum: $9,500.

Prenatal visits and consultations are available regardless of birth plan and are covered by many insurance plans.

Healthshare Ask your Healthshare what they will need from your midwife. Jamie accepts Healthshares. Healthcares tend to cover midwifery care.

Tricare Select requires no prior authorization. Prime requires authorization and grants the authorization request 100% of the time, for homebirth or hospital birth with Jamie. Jamie bills Tricare as an out of net provider. Family portion is $4500-5500 by 35 weeks. There are no expected additional payments postpartum.

Blue Shield plans. Most Blue Shield plans cover CNM care, including homebirth, at in net rates but may not recognize essential aspects of care, such as care in labor or two skilled providers at birth. Blue Shield does not contract with CNMs, but has a blanket “in net rate” claims pay out policy. Prior authorization not required.

Aspire covers nurse midwifery care and homebirth with an authorization, which is always granted. Jamie submits the authorization request and submits claims.

Anthem’s payout is highly variable depending on your plan. With Anthem, Jamie can help request a single case agreement (Anthem’s guarantee to pay at highest rates).

Doula Care $4500. Please prepay in full.

Postpartum Home Visits Postpartum home visits can be enjoyed independently, regardless of your birth provider and birth location. Insurance claims will be submitted for postpartum visits.
